The quick answer
Use the New Delhi Embassy decisions list to look for a published visa outcome. Use the relevant VFS tracking service for the updates it provides about your submitted application and returned documents. VisaRelay searches published decisions; it does not track passport delivery.

Has an outcome been published?
Check the responsible visa office’s decisions source. For New Delhi, you can search its spreadsheet directly or use VisaRelay’s free checker and confirm on the official list.
What update does my application centre have?
If you submitted through VFS, use the Ireland tracking page for the country where you submitted. Have the reference shown on your receipt ready.
Where is my returned passport?
Follow the document-return or courier instructions supplied for your application. A published visa decision does not contain a parcel’s current location.
Use the reference requested by that service
VFS’s Ireland guidance for India asks for the reference number from the application-centre receipt and the applicant’s last name. Requirements can differ between countries, so follow the fields on the correct official VFS page.
VisaRelay asks for the 8-digit AVATS application number from your visa application summary. A free check needs no surname, date of birth or passport number. Do not paste a courier code or an appointment reference into that field.
Does a returned or dispatched update mean approval?
A message about documents being returned or dispatched does not, by itself, state an Approved or Refused result. Read the actual published outcome or the official decision correspondence before drawing that conclusion.
VFS’s India guidance says it sends an email update when a decision has returned to the application centre. That is a separate event from the Embassy publishing an application number, so the two services can update at different times.
What should applicants from Bangladesh use?
First check which office handles your application and how your documents were submitted. If your decision is handled by New Delhi, its published list is the relevant decision source. Use VFS tracking only where VFS was part of your own submission route.
Do not choose an India tracking service solely because the visa office is in New Delhi. Follow your receipt and the instructions from the office or agency that submitted your documents.
What if one service has no update?
Recheck the reference, responsible office and date of the source you searched. Different systems report different events. A missing match in a decision list does not establish why an application is waiting, and a tracking message does not predict a decision date.
VisaRelay’s optional email service watches for a number appearing in New Delhi’s published decisions. It cannot provide internal case updates, speed up processing, or replace the document-return instructions for your application.
Sources and scope
This guide explains how to read published information. VisaRelay is independent of the Embassy, Irish Immigration Service and VFS Global. Official instructions and your decision correspondence take precedence. Source guidance was checked on the review date above.
