The quick answer
If your application is handled by the New Delhi Visa Office, search its published decisions list using your 8-digit application number. VisaRelay offers a free search of the New Delhi decisions it has recorded. Confirm any result on the official Embassy source.
Check my decision for freeWhy does a Bangladesh applicant check New Delhi?
The New Delhi Visa Office handles study visa applications for residents of Bangladesh, as explained in its student information leaflet. The country where you live and the office processing your visa can be different.
Check your application correspondence to identify the responsible office. Some categories are processed in Dublin. VisaRelay currently covers published New Delhi decisions only; it does not search Dublin, London, Abu Dhabi or Beijing decisions.
Find the right application number
Use the 8-digit AVATS application number on your visa application summary. If an agency submitted the application for you, ask them to identify that number on the summary. Copy all eight digits, including any leading zero.
A passport number, appointment reference or courier tracking code is not the number VisaRelay searches. You do not need to upload a passport or provide your date of birth to run a free check.
Check the published decision in three steps
Open the free checker
Go to the VisaRelay homepage. Confirm that New Delhi is the office handling your application.
Enter your AVATS number
Type the eight digits and choose Check my decision. A free check needs no account, email address or payment.
Read the answer and its source
If a decision is found, read the result and follow the official Embassy link to confirm it. Note the list date shown beside the checker.
Check directly on the official website
You can also use the Embassy website without VisaRelay. Open its processing-times-and-decisions page, find the Visa decisions section, and open the latest linked .ods spreadsheet. Use a spreadsheet viewer’s Find command to search the complete application number.
Read the decision on the same row as your exact number. A nearby number is somebody else’s application. The dedicated New Delhi guide below explains the file and its dates in more detail.
What if your application number is not found?
It means the source searched has no published match for that number. It does not establish an approval, a refusal, or the stage your application has reached inside the visa office. Check the number, the responsible office and the source date before drawing a conclusion.
You can return to the official list later or choose an optional VisaRelay email alert. The free check remains available either way. An alert watches for publication; it cannot make the Embassy decide sooner.
A decision and passport return are separate updates
Finding a published decision does not tell you where your passport is or when it will arrive. Follow the return instructions from the office or service that received your documents. If you used VFS, use its country-specific tracking instructions.
Sources and scope
This guide explains how to read published information. VisaRelay is independent of the Embassy, Irish Immigration Service and VFS Global. Official instructions and your decision correspondence take precedence. Source guidance was checked on the review date above.
